Ambassador Khojesta Fana Ebrahimkhel chairs the United Nations meeting on the Commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

Ambassador Khojesta Fana Ebrahimkhel, chaired the United Nations meeting on the Commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on November 29, 2019 in Vienna.

Ambassador Ebrahimkhel delivered a statement on behalf of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People and emphasized the fully implementation of UN Resolution 181, adopted on November 29, 1947 that partitioned the Palestine State into two sovereign adjoining states and further said it is indeed discouraging that we must still gather every year to remind the world that the promise of the United Nations remains unfulfilled.

Ambassador Ebrahimkhel also said that the Palestinian people do not need only sympathy with their plight and solidarity with their just cause, but real political support and credible political prospects for the independence of their state. They need real partners ready to implement what the General Assembly and the Security Council have affirmed countless times since the passing the resolution 181 and ready to support the realization of their inalienable rights. She also emphasized that unhelpful unilateral measures and disrespect for relevant UN resolutions and international law has hindered our common goal: it is that of a just and lasting solution of two states living side by side in peace and security within the pre-1967 borders, and with East Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Palestine.

In continuation, by delivering national statements, representatives from 46 member states and permanent observers, as well as officials from the host country, Executive secretary of CTBTO, and representatives from League of Arab States, UNROD, OFID, OPEC, UNODC, IAEA, NGOs, other invited guests and staff members, overall approximately 110 participants attended the meeting.

The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is annually held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, as well as at the United Nations offices at Geneva, Nairobi and Vienna.
