International Cultural Diversity Organization (ICDO) Panel Discussion on Women in Leadership Positions, Inclusion and Diversity in Society

Ambassador Khojesta Fana Ebrahimkhel keeps very dear ICDO’s objective to promote diversity and interculturality with the goal of bringing people closer together and closing the cultural gaps.

This is very much in line with the priorities of the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Afghanistan in Vienna, where they share the same goal of understanding and closing the cultural gaps.

For this reason, the young President and the young Ambassadors of ICDO included Ambassador Ebrahimkhel’s speech in a Panel Discussion dedicated to women empowerment, one of the many intercultural activities of the week.

In her speech to ICDO, Ambassador Ebrahimkhel shared a message to her own fellow Afghans living abroad, “While abroad, like here in Austria, I encourage you all to get integrated, educated, polish your skills and contribute to society with the goal of becoming role models for your fellow Afghan countrymen and women and become Ambassadors of Peace and of Understanding among the cultures.”

Ambassador Ebrahimkhel shared her appreciation for ICDO’s work in empowering youth and diversity. ICDO gives youth new opportunities and most importantly hope. Hope for change.

SOCIETY for the 100th Anniversary of the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan

On the occasion of the 100th National Day, the Ambassador H.E. Khojesta Fana Ebrahimkhel talked with SOCIETY publisher Gertrud Tauchhammer and pointed out the very good relations between Austria and Afghanistan and the importance of the Society Magazine as a platform for sharing information on the diversities and culture of Afghanistan.

Fostering the excellent relations with the beautiful host country Austria is certainly a priority for the Embassy and SOCIETY provides one of the many links between the Austrian and Afghan citizens.

100 years Anniversary of Independence of Afghanistan

The Embassy and Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Vienna hosted an event celebrating the 100 years anniversary of independence of Afghanistan. The event commenced with the national anthems of Austria and Afghanistan and a statement was made by Ms. Soraya Malek, the granddaughter of King Amanullah. She warmly welcomed the audience and highlighted in her speech that “the memory of Amanullah, the King that attempted to modernize and reform the country—and who paid the consequences for his efforts—is still limpid, undisputed and a source of great inspiration.”

Referring to the 100 years Anniversary of the Independence of Afghanistan, Ambassador Ebrahimkhel highlighted that the National Day is not only a date for us but a new commitment for contribution and the right time to thank friends and allies for their friendship, support, and cooperation.

As a token of appreciation for everyone that is involved and has a passion for Afghanistan, a photo exhibition, a fashion show of typical Afghan costumes, and a traditional Afghan dinner buffet were presented.

Ambassador Khojesta Fana Ebrahimkhel received ICMPD Regional Coordinator for Silk Routes Region

H.E. Ambassador Khojesta Fana Ebrahimkhel met and congratulated Ms. Sedef Dearing the Regional Coordinator for Silk Routes Region of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) on her new appointment as the Head of the Secretariat of the Budapest Process.

The Budapest Process is the ICMPD project which is very important and a priority for the mission of Afghanistan in Vienna.  Ambassador Ebrahimkhel expressed her appreciation for continuous engagement and hoped to witness the next phase of the Budapest Process.

During the meeting, Ambassador Ebrahimkhel highlighted the excellent and long-standing relations between ICMPD and the Government of Afghanistan. Afghanistan, like many other countries, counts the ICMPD as one of its stalwart supporters in the area of refugees and migration.

Ambassador Ebrahimkhel was very pleased to hear the many achievements and positive experiences of ICMPD in carrying out two large projects in Afghanistan, namely “Improving Migration Management in the Silk Routes Countries” and “Integrated Border Management in the Silk Routes Countries”.

Ambassador thanked the Regional Coordinator and her dedicated team for the efforts and stated her sincere desire to further strengthen the cordial relations, both personal and official between ICMPD and the Afghan mission.

H.E. Ambassador Khojesta Fana meets with experts on Afghanistan to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Austria and Afghanistan for the upcoming 100 years Independence Anniversary

Today, H.E. Ambassador Khojesta Fana met with former Austrian Ambassadors to Afghanistan, Austrian government officials from the Ministry of Interior and the Federal Ministry of Austria, Directors of Austrian Organisations and experts from the private sector and civil society.

The Ambassador highlighted the excellent and long-standing bilateral relations between Austria and Afghanistan, going back to the 1950s, which have been developed across many sectors ranging from culture to sports and trade.

Fostering the excellent relations with the beautiful host country Austria is certainly a priority for the Embassy of Afghanistan in Vienna, especially in preparation for the upcoming 100 years Independence Anniversary of Afghanistan.

To have a memorable celebration, the Ambassador is supposed to honor those prominent Austrian personalities who have been instrumental to the advancement of Afghanistan’s relation with Austria and contributory to Afghanistan’s bright future.

The Ambassador concluded the meeting by presenting saffron as a token of appreciation to the Austrian friends of Afghanistan. Saffron is the symbol of a changing Afghanistan holding significant economic, trade and investment opportunities.



Afghanistan pays tribute to the late Director General Yukiya Amano

During a Board of Governors meeting held on Thursday 25 July 2019, H.E. Ambassador Khojesta Fana on behalf of the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan paid her respects to Director General Yukiya Amano, who passed away last week.

Director General Amano was a great advocator for security, nuclear non-proliferation regime and peaceful use of nuclear technologies to achieving a more peaceful world.

Afghanistan is grateful to IAEA, under the Director General Amano’s leadership, for its significant support to the country.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Director General Amano’s family and friends.
